I’m moving to Hawaii, I can either change my residency to HI, CA or MS. which one is best?

gtincher67 asked:

Im in the military and moving to hawaii from california, my home of record is mississippi.
The change in residency is for tax purposes.. thanks!
I will be living in Hawaii and have the ID’s etc, but being Military, i can pay taxes in other states i live or lived. That is my question, out of the 3 which would be cheapest.

How cool would it be to have Hawaii as your residence?! I’ve had Indiana and New York state. I’d take Hawaii in a heartbeat. It’s way more exotic, lol.

Probably Hi just cuz I think it would be awesome to have that as your residency.

Check the tax details. California has pretty high taxes, but I think Hawaii is even higher…look into that, not what sounds cooler.

    Hi,
my assumption is that Mississippi would have the lowest taxes, you should do some good research on all of that. doesn’t the military have some counseling on that matter?

Many states don’t tax military income if you’re stationed out of state. So probably Hawaii would be the worst to go, since you wouldn’t be stationed out of state.

Mississippi is what I’d stick with.
