There are smart car price that start at $15,000 for a new one. These little cars might only be able to fit 2 people but the price is great. Daimler and Mercedes are the 2 major car manufacturers that have made the venture into this market.
The cars are offered in 38 different countries and are a great way to drive a new vehicle that produces low CO2 emissions while still getting its passengers to their destination on time.
Because of the great mileage these new smart cars are holding their value like no other. A smart car that is a 2008 is only $2000 cheaper than a new 2009 model and in some cases they are actually more. The logic of purchasing a used car is that it has already been tested and there are no bugs in that particular vehicle. This means you are ready for the road with it and not a trip to the repair shop to work out the little kinks to make it all work right.
The real art to buying a Smart car is to know the local market. In Texas the average Smart used 2008 car is selling for from $15000 to 18000, while in New York were they actually makes more sense to own one, the used car Smart market is ½ the price. I found one at $8500 with 21,000 miles on it.
