Marvellous Cala Bona, Cala Millor and Sa Coma in Majorca

Cala Bona and the twin resort of Cala Millor are based on the eastern coast of the Baleric island of Majorca. These resorts are separated by a 5 minute taxi trip or a 20 minute walk if you prefer the exercise. Another resort situated in these parts is Sa Coma Majorca which very often has cheaper holidays than other Majorcan resorts.

A lot of the resorts in Majorca are biased towards either British or German holidaymakers. Cala Bona Majorca itself is definitely a British resort while Cala Millor is a little different as a mixed holiday town in that both English and German tourists frequent in numbers. Cala Bona is much the quieter of the two places making it ideal for young families. In Cala Bona the majority of the entertainment is based in hotels. Cala Bona is probably not for hoidaymakers looking to party the night away but Cala Millor offers plenty of night life and as already mentioned is only a 5 minute taxi fare or a 20 minute walk away.

Cala Bona has grown from a tiny traditional fishing village into a bustling holiday resort on Majorca’s less developed east coast. The original village of Cala Bona is still on view as the resort retains several narrow streets. The harbour is an interesting part of the town of Cala Bona. The harbour has been refurbished recently and now features a range of open air cafes, watering holes and restaurants. A number of Cala Bona tourist excursions are available from the harbour.

Cala Bona offers a number of small sandy beaches sheltered between rocky breakwaters forming calm, sheltered lagoons ideal for swimming and paddling in relative safety. Over recent years these breakwaters appear to have formed a natural trap for the local seaweed to build up both in the water and on the beach. The local council have started to deal with this problem by regular removal of the seaweed to prevent it accumulating. Cala Bona’s lovely beaches are now usually much improved because of thanks to the local council.
