You cannot drive your car to Hawaii, there is no tunnel or bridge from California to there. You cannot take a ferry to Hawaii as there is none. It is over 3,000 miles from California to Hawaii the only possible way there is by ship or plane.

If you are quoted only 2G from Florida to Hawaii that is pretty good. You can drive to California and ship it from there for about 1G but remember along the way you will have to pay for food, lodging and gas. Although your plane ticket might be cheaper as well. You need to look at all your options.

Sell it. $1000 from Long Beach and probably $1200 from Seattle.
Better yet, drive it cross country AND sell it.

kihei has the cheapest hotels, they are near the biggest mall on maui and close to the m.a.c.c. (maui arts cultural center).

Man, that is expensive! I would sell the car you have and buy another one once you got here.

I moved from NJ recently and what I did was to drive to Seattle ans ship the car from seattle to Honolulu for 1000.00

I really do suggest heading to California and having the car shipped from there. If it’s being shipped from Florida it has to go through the Panama Canal or some other long route before it even reaches the Pacific. By shipping from California, it’s a straight shot to Hawaii.

I’m assuming your last word was supposed to be haole. But anyways, If you felt a spiritual connection than don’t ignore it. Kaua’i has a lot of white people. So, if you want to actually be around locals than be careful where you move to as a lot of Kaua’i is full of rich mainlanders. Sorry, if that sounds mean. I just hope you find everything you hope for

Interesting. I lived in Hawaii in 85-87 and there’s a place I remember on the North Shore (Oahu) that I felt strangely connected to as well. I have no other info about it though. Just a place that I thought I’d been before, but know I had not. Like deja vu.

Well, I think if you want to return and live there you need to put your life in order to do that. It will take money and good planning.

Hawaiians don’t **** whites. When I was there the locals were extremely nice. But it is expensive. Most Hawaiians hold more than 1 job. And it is a Beautiful place.

I’ve only lived in Hawaii, but have relatives up in California, southern to be exact. My dad’s brother’s family lives there and he misses Hawaii since he was born and raised here. My cousin wants to live on Oahu, in town.

You’ll do well in Northern California. I don’t understand why you moved to Hawaii if you don’t like beaches, getting wet, etc.

I moved to Socal a couple years back and i HATED it! No offense to mainlanders, but the people ther were super rude to me and my friends!

Driving on the freeway pissed me off. Poeple were so damn impatient! Ugghhhh

Hawaii is diverse and beautiful…you just got to look harder.
And in California is not gonna be much different except when it gets cold in the winter

Sounds like you would probably prefer Northern California to SoCal if you want Fall weather and such. I really like San Francisco for its big city type stuff, and also the fact that it doesn’t take too long to reach nature type stuff from SF when I need a nature fix. But there are lots of other wonderful places to live and visit in NorCal as well.

It wouldn’t hurt to come visit before you make up your mind about moving. If you can spend a couple of weeks exploring, it might give you a better idea whether you would like it.
